I go to thrift stores pretty frequently to look for sweaters to felt and make things for my etsy shop and I find some cool stuff. I hear about people finding great cashmere sweaters to felt, or frog and knit with the yarn and I am never so lucky. I’ve chalked it up to the fact that I live in a super crafty city and there are just too many people looking for second hand sweaters. I’ve also thought that maybe it’s due to the fact that while I live in a city, it’s a city known for it’s casual dress and laid back attitude. Portlanders are more likely to get excited about a new rain jacket, or bike gear than they are about Brooks Brothers. So I thought. Turns out, I just wasn’t going to the right thrift stores!! I went to a new one this week and walked out with 3 cashmere sweater for 10 bucks! That’s 10 bucks for all three, not each. I was pretty excited to say the least
This one I’m in the process of frogging and I’m going to knit myself a fabulous new sweater. It’s so, so, so soft. I wish you could feel it. The others I’m going to hold onto for now. They might be turned into something for the shop or might make something for sesame. (babies deserve cashmere too)
Speaking of my etsy store, I want to thank everyone who came out to Crafty Wonderland last weekend! I had a pretty nasty cold but still had fun and sold a ton of stuff. In my fog of congestion, I forgot the camera so I don’t have any pictures for you. But, I have all kinds of new springy things in my store for your viewing enjoyment.

It’s good timing too because there’s a HUGE sale going on! Portland etsy sellers have banded together and we’re having a big BOGO sale this weekend only! Check out this website to see which sellers are participating. Each seller has set their own sale terms. Me? I’ll give you a free coffee sleeve with every purchase over $20. There some truly amazing deals to be had so support Portland crafters and check out our shops.
Oh, I’ve been knitting too. I’m almost done with these cute little baby/toddler socks and I’m writing up the pattern for you. I’ll try to post it this weekend.

Love that orange color…it looks really soft. Will you share a photo of the finished project?
Wow, that is a lovely sweater, and such cute toddler socks! I especially love that little hat with the bird on it.
I envy knitted items, but we have no need for them in Texas
Love the cute little sock! Aww! Very nice yarn and shop update too! Thanks for the heads up on the portland etsy sale!
lucky you! can’t wait to see what you create!
I went over to your etsy shop yesterday because I wanted to buy one of your super-cute coffee sleeves, and I saw you were all sold out! Now I see why! Bad timing on my part… I’ll be on the lookout for new ones.
What a score on the cashmere! I never see used cashmere, but you give me hope to keep the search up.
